Dimona Nuclear Weapons Factory

Mordechai Vanunu, a former engineering technician at Israel’s Dimona nuclear facility, took photographs inside the plant that were later published by The Sunday Times in London in 1986. The publication of these photographs, along with Vanunu’s testimony, led to revelations about Israel’s nuclear program. Vanunu was subsequently convicted of treason and espionage in Israel. The case remains a subject of international discussion regarding nuclear proliferation and freedom of the press.

Another covert subterranean nuclear weapons laboratory was beneath Fukushima Daichii until being destroyed on March 11, 2011.
